Coupled with the excellent local professional services, we can ensure that our tropical wedding meets your expectations.

What sets us aside from other weddng planners, is we not only have intimate knowledge of the Island, but we also have first hand experience of getting married in Barbados: Our wedding coordinator's own sister married in St James Church in 2007. You can personally contact her to discuss your wedding needs and expectations.

Getting married in Barbados is simple as there are no minimum residency requirements.

Our basic wedding package includes all the legalities of marrying on the island, which includes obtaining your marriage license and the hiring and planning of your ceremony, with a few special touches. Additional services and enhancements can be organised by us, which include flights, accommodation for the Bride and Groom, flowers, transportation, music, ceremony rituals and reception planning.

For Cruise Ship visitors we offer a simple fast track professional service , which allows couples the opportunity to Tie the Knot on the same day of arrival and return to the ship as Husband and Wife.

CEREMONY PLANNING PACKAGE FOR BARBADOS WEDDINGS

Our Ceremony planning package includes:
  • All planning and coordinating
  • 1 hour pre-planning session at your hotel with the coordinator before the wedding.
  • Transportation to the city to obtain the marriage licence
  • Marriage licence fees and stamp duty
  • Coordinator assistance at the marriage licence office
  • Presence of the coordinator on the wedding day to oversee the venue set up and cue ceremony start
  • Reverend Fee
  • Witnesses (If just the two of you)
  • Table & Chair for the signing of the marriage register
  • Marriage Certificate issued by the Reverend on the day of the wedding
  • A single tiered Wedding Cake and a bottle of sparkling wine

  • Obtaining and Posting of the marriage certificate.

Legality of your Overseas Wedding in Barbados

Your wedding is legal according to the national laws of Barbados and is recognized as a valid overseas marriage, subject to meeting the specific documentation required by your country.

The Marriage Officer will provide you with your signed and witnessed marriage certificate. Another copy is retained by the Marriage Officer for his/her records and the third is submitted to the Barbados Supreme Court in order to register your wedding in Barbados.

In addition to the certificate issued by the Marriage Officer on the day of your wedding, you will require a certified copy of the marriage certificate. This certified marriage certificate will be obtained and posted to you via registered mail within 8-10 weeks after your wedding date. The fee for this service is already included in your wedding package costs. If you wish to have the certificate sent via courier, this can be arranged for an additional fee

General Requirements for Getting Married in Barbados

  1. Valid passports.
  2. If either party was married previously and widowed, a certified copy of the marriage certificate and death certificate in respect of the deceased spouse.
  3. If either party was divorced, an original Decree Absolute OR certified copy of the Final Judgments, NOT the Decree Nisi.
  4. All documents not in English must be accompanied by a translation certified by an authorized Notary Public (NOT a Justice of the Peace).
  5. A letter from the marriage officer who has agreed to perform the marriage ceremony (provided by Tropical Weddings).
  6. Persons under the age of sixteen (16) cannot be legally married in Barbados. For persons between the ages of sixteen (16) and eighteen (18), the consent of both parents must be obtained and both parents must be present at the time of the application.
  7. Original deed poll if either party has had a name change.
  8. Persons eighteen (18) years and older do not require parental consent.

Church Weddings in Barbados

Additional Requirements for Anglican Church Weddings:
  • Baptism certificates.
  • Letter from your local pastor/vicar indicating that premarital counselling has been completed.
  • Divorcees must provide a copy of the divorce decree and the pleadings in the divorce.

Some select reverends do not require the premarital counselling and baptism certificate or divorce pleadings. If any of these present a difficulty for you, please let me know so I can make the appropriate arrangements with a reverend.

Additional Requirements for Roman Catholic Church Weddings:   

  • The Pre-Marital Enquiry must be completed and signed by the Bride and Groom.
  • Baptismal Certificates issued within the past six months indicating that both are free to marry.
  • A signed statement of Freedom to Marry by the Parish Priest of the couple.
  • A Certificate of Participation in a program of preparation for marriage.
  • In the case of mixed marriage, permission to marry or dispensation from Disparity of Cult issued by the Bishop of your diocese.
  • In the event that a previous marriage was contracted by either party, a Death Certificate or Declaration of Nullity is required.
  • Testimonial letters from the Bishop of your diocese.
  • A Record of Confirmation.

General Conditions of our Wedding Service

  1. Weddings are performed from Mondays to Fridays between 11.00am to 4.30pm.
  2. Sunset weddings are arranged on request at no additional charge.
  3. Saturday weddings may be arranged for a supplement of approx £50.
  4. We do not usually host weddings on Sundays and bank holidays.
  5. The marriage officer will be a Minister from the Anglican or Methodist Church.
  6. Civil ceremonies can be arranged on request and usually involve an additional fee of approx £100 and a visit to the Magistrate's court.
